Answer m²

Worked answer

Question 1 (2 marks) [Units]

Convert 56,000 cm² to m².

Answer: 5.6 m²

  • 1 m = 100 cm, so 1 m² = 100 × 100 = 10 000 cm² (for squared units, square the conversion factor).
  • Going from the small unit (cm²) to the big unit (m²) means DIVIDE: 56,000 ÷ 10 000 = 5.6.

Area and volume units need the conversion factor SQUARED or CUBED (1 m² = 10 000 cm²).
