Question 1

At a point, two angles of 38° and one more angle meet to make a full turn. What is the size of the one more angle?

A 284°

B 294°

C 104°

D 76°

Worked answer

Correct answer: A — 284°

  • Angles at a point add to 360°.
  • Two equal angles: 2 × 38° = 76°.
  • Remaining angle = 360° − 76° = 284°.
  • Why the other options are wrong:
  • B (294°): This is the correct answer (284°) plus 10: an extra 10 was added at the end of the calculation

(an off-by-10 error).

  • C (104°): Angles at a point add to 360°.
  • D (76°): That is the total of the equal angles.

Multiply for equal angles first, then subtract the total from 360°.
